About the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) is an educational and human rights nonprofit organization devoted to commemorating the more than 100 million victims of Communism around the world and to the freedom of those still living under totalitarian and collectivist regimes.

VOC’s mission is to educate the American public about the history, ideology, and legacy of Communism. VOC was instrumental in the construction of the only memorial in the world dedicated to every single victim of Communism located just five blocks from the US Capitol Building. Since its construction in 2007, the monument has become a pilgrimage destination for foreign heads of state, diplomats, student groups, and those who fled cCmmunism for safety and freedom in the United States.

Students who intern with the Foundation possess a commitment to educating people about the history of Communism and gain substantive policy experience working in the fast-paced environment of Washington, DC and Capitol Hill.
