Hungary To Contribute €5 Million Towards International Efforts To Stabilize War-Torn Afghanistan

On Wednesday, October 5, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced Hungary will open a €5 million preferential, long-term and low-interest credit line to support reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan. Hungary’s contribution is part of a global effort aimed at raising $15 billion in international support for Aghanistan. To date, over 70 governments including the United States and other EU member countries have contributed to the fund.

The 1848 Revolution Remembered: The Last Words of the 13 Martyrs of Arad

On October 6, 1849, the 13 Martyrs of Arad, the national heroes of the 1848 Revolution and War who fought for independence from the Hapsburg Empire, were executed in the city of Arad (now Romania).
