The world famous RAJKÓ Gypsy Orchestra’s returned to the United States with an eight member band playing traditional instruments and creating the “authentic Gypsy music sound” of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Rajkó Gypsy Band played traditional Hungarian folk music, classical masterpieces and old evergreen favorites from operettas at the Cedar Lane Universalist Unitarian Church.
As an added benefit, the concert tour marked the 200th anniversary of birth of Ferenc Liszt, who loved Gypsy music and based several of his famous compositions on this style, and incorporated many tunes in his compositions. The Rajkó Gypsy Band played the very same Gypsy music Liszt so much adored.
