Hungarian Ambassador Dr. Réka Szemerkényi attended the United States Holocaust Museum’s event in honor of International Holocaust Memorial Day and all of those in history forced to confront hatred, affronts to human dignity and unthinkable acts of genocide.

United States Ambassador to Israel Ron Dermer, speaking at the International Holocaust Memorial Day at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Friday, January 27, said that the most important lesson of the Holocaust for the Jewish people is never to depend on others to defend themselves. Swedish Ambassador Björn Lyrvall also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the fact that to remember Raoul Wallenberg’s determination to do the right thing is also a way of keeping history alive. “It gives us courage,” said Lyrvall.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is the United States' official living memorial to the Holocaust seeking to inspire citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred and intolerance as well as to facilitate genocide prevention.
