US President Donald Trump Sends Letter to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán

On Friday, February 24, President of the United States Donald Trump sent a letter to Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán thanking him for his message of congratulations following the President’s inauguration on January 20.

Following the inauguration of Donald Trump as 45th President of the United States, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sent a letter of congratulations to the new US President, writing that “Your historic election victory gives you a strong mandate from the American people to bring about change.” The Prime Minister added that, “Our ever-growing economic ties; long-standing cooperation in areas, such as the fight against terrorism; our similar visions on economic and security policies, on the responsibility for the safety of our own citizens, and on border control and migration, give us a historic opportunity to shape the future together.”

In his recent response, President Trump wrote that he greatly appreciates the Hungarian Prime Minister’s support and encouragement. In his letter, President Trump wrote to Prime Minister Orbán that “We are facing challenges, which, it is my belief, we are capable of overcoming jointly, through partnership. However, we also have huge opportunities to move forward towards the achievement of our common goals.”
