Tokaji Wine Dinner at the Embassy of Hungary

Publicated on: December 8, 2017

On November 30, the Embassy of Hungary hosted Honorary Consuls, wine experts and friends for an elegant guided wine dinner. Ambassador László Szabó kicked off the night by introducing the fabled wines of the Tokaj region in northeastern Hungary.

Representatives of the Confrérie de Tokaj, an umbrella organization for the best wine producers of the Tokaj region, walked the guests through ten different Hungarian wines over the course of the evening.

The Embassy was delighted to host distinguished guests such as Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Congressman Steve King, Ambassador David O’Sullivan, and Sunil Sabharwal, Alternate Executive Director of the IMF.

As a special treat, Eva Voisin, Honorary Consul General of Hungary in San Francisco, and her husband, Paul Voisin, were presented with official scarves from the Confrérie de Tokaj. The scarves represent the first step towards membership in the organization – a process that requires a special ceremony in Hungary.
