NGOs Must Meet Same Hungarian and International Criteria for Transparency

Hungarian Government Spokesperson Zoltán Kovács rebuffed criticism levelled by the Obama Administration concerning government policy towards non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating Hungary, calling such accusations unnecessarily encumbering bilateral relations.

In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, Kovács strongly condemned unfounded accusations of a lack of governmental transparency and corruption, reaffirming the Hungarian government’s view that NGOs operating in Hungary must meet the same criteria for transparency as any other politician or international organization.

Kovács added that György Soros continues to seek to inappropriately and undemocratically interfere in Hungarian politics, specifically the issue of the management of the migration crisis, vis-a-vis American domestic politics.
