Together with five members of Parliament, Minister of Human Capacities Zoltán Balog headlined the Hungarian delegation that attended the 65th Annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC on Thursday, February 2nd. Hungarian Members of Parliament included: Dr. Tamás Lukács; Dr. Imre Vejkey; István Bebes; Dr. János Harmatta; and, László Teleki.
Designed as a forum for to build relationships and promote political and economic cooperation, in total some 3,500 guests from over 100 countries attended the 2017 National Prayer Breakfast. Distinguished speakers and attendees included Chaplain of the US Senate Barry Black, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, newly-confirmed Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and the President of the United States Donald Trump.
“The Annual Prayer Breakfast is truly a unique event that not only endeavors to transcend political, religious, and international divides to bring together leaders from across the United States and the world,” said Ambassador Szemerkényi earlier in the week at a dinner that brought together Minister Zoltán Balog and the five MPs with leaders of Hungarian-American organizations across the Washington, DC area.
