V4 Political Directors in Washington D.C.

The political directors of the Visegrád Four countries were in Washington D.C. on May 14-15 for consultations with their counterparts at the State Department. The V4 formation has proven to be a valuable asset in advancing transatlantic ties. All countries from the region share common values with the US and have a particularly strong security cooperation with the United States.

World Jewish Congress President Apologizes for Comments about Prime Minister Orbán

In his closing address today to the Plenary Assembly in Budapest, World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder apologized for his previous comments about Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, saying that the prime minister had indeed said that Jobbik poses a threat to democracy, violates human rights and that the prime minister has taken a clear stand against the far-right party.

The 14th General Assembly of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) will take place in Budapest between 5-7 May. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed in his letter to President of the World Jewish Congress Ronald S. Lauder that it is an honour for Hungary to host the event. Numerous high-ranking governmental officials will participate and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will address the opening ceremony.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gives interview to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth

In the interview, the Prime Minister explained that "we are clearly not anti-Semitic. It is our duty to refute these accusations and also to consider why people who judge Hungary from the outside today include anti-Semitism as one of our country's characteristics". According to Mr. Orbán, this is a consequence of history.
