Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó welcomed the announcement from the US State Department that a fact-finding delegation has been dispatched to Hungary to learn further details about the recent amendment of the Act on Higher Education and pledged to provide full cooperation and access to all requested information.

“The Hungarian Government is happy to assist everyone if they require information with relation to the legislative amendments,” Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said in specific reference to the amendment of the Act on Higher Education and proposed legislation concerning the transparency of international organizations receiving money from abroad.

Szijjártó added that the new Hungarian registration requirements affecting international organizations would not cause any difficulties for charities and aid organizations, explaining that there is no problem with an international charity organization receiving money from abroad. “The Hungarian Government also gives donations to both Hungarian and foreign aid organizations, including in the interests of enabling Christian communities in the Middle East to remain in situ,” stressed the Minister.
