V4 Political Directors in Washington D.C.

The V4 formation has proven to be a valuable asset in advancing transatlantic ties. World Jewish Congress President Apologizes for Comments about Prime Minister Orbán

In his closing address today to the Plenary Assembly in Budapest, World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder apologized for his previous comments about Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, saying that the prime minister had indeed said that Jobbik poses a threat to democracy, violates human rights and that the prime minister has taken a clear stand against the far-right party.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gives interview to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth

In the interview, the Prime Minister explained that "we are clearly not anti-Semitic. It is our duty to refute these accusations and also to consider why people who judge Hungary from the outside today include anti-Semitism as one of our country's characteristics". According to Mr. Orbán, this is a consequence of history.

The 11th March of the Living in Budapest

The 11th March of the Living, commemorating the victims of Holocaust, took place along the Danube in Budapest on the 21st of April. The aim of the event was also to support the reinforcement of a Hungary that is free of racism and extremism. Around 20,000-25,000 people took part in the peaceful remembrance march. Among the participants were Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog, Fidesz parliamentary faction leader Antal Rogán, and several foreign diplomats and state officials.

Hungarian PRT in Afghanistan Concludes its Mission

On March 20, the Hungarian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Pol-e-Khumri, Baghlan province concluded its mission, in line with ISAF strategy of handing over security, development and governance responsibilities to the Afghan authorities. The camp itself is also handed over for Afghan use.
